Yesterdays Valentino braid made me think on one of my favourite persons, Frida Kahlo, and her hair.

I’m so happy I’m so glad that I found thiiiis cuz I adore the Prada hair. So here is hair stylist Guido Palau’s own tutorial. He is a Redken stylist and therefore he uses Redken products only. All though I’m sure this look can be accomplished with alternative, cheaper products. So blast on the gel!
The Inspiration:
“It has a ’30s, very lacquered feeling; a young girl in Cuba going to a dance. It’s sophisticated, but we wanted it to feel fun and frivolous.”
“We wanted a carefree, youthful and fun look, but also have that high Prada glamour that represents the design house. The two knots at the back of the head emphasize the playful girl yet the high gloss, shine and finger waves make it glamorous and impactful on the runway.”
- Guido Palau
How to do it:
- Create a deep side part, and apply Redken hardwear 16 super-strong sculpting gel in generous amounts to the entire head, smoothing the part over the side.
- Next, create finger waves on the forehead with a tail comb.
- Divide the back of the head into two sections with a straight middle part and twist each one into a small knot at the base of the head about 2-3 inches apart, so you can still see a bit of the knots from the front.
- Secure knots with pins and finish them with forceful 23 super strength finishing spray for hold. To create the final touch, apply a generous amount of glass 01 smoothing serum all over for that wet, shiny, lacquered look!
I like this very harsh sprayed back slick styled hair that the boys at Julius wore. This is the kind of update that I’ve been longing to see on, now regular, retro mens cut.
Couture is so fun and Jean Paul Gaultier always makes it extra memorable. He’s one of the few that gives each model her own look and it seem like the models really got in to character. The punk-thingy isn’t quite my thing but hey you have to give JPG cred for making this crazy hair look blazé and elegant, so it works!
Lewis Amarante created this look for the coolest book about hair -fashion/art/photo/drawings TUTTI.
It’s called Hair’em Scare’em!!
Buy it, rent it or steal it!!!
I’m into boys right now. Prada and a lot of hoses showing like the D.Y.S fringe a lot. Mi likey too!
Just goo some of that white stuff into your hair and your done!
Any one that knows how to make this kind of knot?
Oh, almost forgot. Last week Elle-galan was held at Grand Hotel in Sthlm.
I was there, assisting Dejan Cekanovic for the fantastic swedish illustrator Liselotte Watkins,
who actually held/styled her very first fashionshow. If you dont know her work, check it out!
She translated her drawings very well into this colourful show.
Dejan did kind of twisted hair with knots and funny details,in his own way, which I love!

I have a new obsession: Oguri Shun! I love long hair on guys.
And I just love it when I get to do long hair on a guy with short bangs to go with the cut.
I have one client who wears his hair really long, rough and messy but with short distinct bangs.
Love it. When I first saw Oguri Shun’s (japanese actor) hairdo I did’nt know what to think.
But now I absolutely adore it. Especially in this pic where the cut reminds me of Jarvis Cocker.
