This is Andrea from Italy. He sent us these pictures of his hair and we just love it! We also adore when you send us your own hair pictures, so just keep em’ coming!!
Scalpture wants to give you a great variety of inspiration, ideas and styles all with the focus on hair of course. We also want to be a space for interesting creative people with fun ideas. Therefore we welcome yet another dazzling new contributor; Ina Lindén!
She is a colorful character, currently working and creating in the edgy salon Sure Baby Yes.
Welcome to the Scalpture cult Ina, tell us a bit about how your interest in hair started!
We’ll I guess It’s kind of a cliché, but I was kind of fond of scissors from the very beginning. When I was just a kid I always looked kind of freaky, because I used to lock myself into the bathroom and cut my hair whenever I was bored. Later on when I was about 15 I discovered the salon Hårgänget. I was fascinated with all the cool hairdressers there, their skills and went there as often I could afford it. I also attended their school some years later to become a hairdresser myself.
What do you plan on bringing to Scalpture?
I’d like to bring a little of myself and my beloved friends at SURE BABY YES to Scalpture.
They’re a talented bunch of people. I’ll show you some cool stuff that we’ve made and perhaps even some snapshots from our everyday work. Also I would like to share with you some of my inspirations.
Aha, so is there anything special that inspires you in your work?
I was recently in Tokyo and I’m still blown away by all the original hairstyles I’ve seen. Especially the guys had mad and unexpected haircuts. For an example they could even pull off a bob with bangs. I was impressed by their boldness.
But I would have to say though that my biggest and continuous source of inspiration are my co-workers. And of course: lot’s of magazines…
Oh I almost forgot to ask you about all the projects you work with, what’s “Crack hair” for example?
That was a small photo exhibition/party we had at Morfar Ginko. Anders Kylberg took amazing pictures of models that we prepared for the shoot. It was all about edgy haircuts with lots of color.
Right now we also have a club called JUKEBOX BABY. We play records at different places like Kåken and Morfar Ginko. Join our Facebook group Surebabyyes Sekt for updates and join the party!
Are there any fun non-hair related projects in your life?
My biggest project is learning Japanese! I’ve attended courses for two years now. It’s super fun! I’m a real nerd. Love anime, Japanese movies and literature.
I also like DIY-projects. Like making jewelry and headpieces for me and my friends. And recently I decorated my bedroom wall with Japanese giftwrapping paper. So now I sleep among strawberries and ladybugs ^^
And now the million dollar question: how many different hair colors have you tried?
It’s easier too say which one I haven’t tried yet: Purple. It’s my least favorite color.
So, what’s going to happen with your hair next?
At the moment it’s pink. I love it and I’ll keep it as long as possible. Thanks Jenny P!
Do you have any cool plans for this summer
Actually it’s hard work work for me all summer. You could say I spent a little too much money in Tokyo…
And what do you plan on doing in one year?
Maybe not in one year, but my longterm goal is to move to Tokyo for about half a year. To study more Japanese and hopefully help out in a salon in my free time. I just loved the salons in Daikanyama!
^_^
Fantasy inspiration for everything; hair, colors, texture and magic. John Galliano created this half human creature for his 2003 collection. If you could choose witch hair and/or skin color would you like to have?

A futuristic, lovely, cut-up look from MIKAs Koivisto/Karlsson‘s Wella show.
Ps. Is it because of Lady Gaga or am I just really into cut-up wig styles in general?

This is Aleks, he looks auper in his braid, more guys in braids!

I’ve been looking back at old pictures of myself. My hair has always been a summary of how I feel at the moment. I usually don’t follow trends that much, just looking around, what inspires me. Most of my friends are not surprised if I show up with a totally new look from the last time. I have had so many different hairstyles and I keep on developing and changing styles. I thought I would share some of my old looks with you!
So I guess this color trend is super official by now. It’s almost not fresh any more but then again pictures like this make me so damn inspired. This hairstyle is nothing about the grunge in colored hair, all glam.

As you’ve seen Scalpture has entered a short black, gray and white era. And this is of course Fever Ray.

We made a little interview with the Scalpture-team about what we see all around us, gray hair. We are talking about really gray hair like when age shows it’s first signs in black hair, the ghostly pale hair and where this could come from. What do you think?
Here are some thoughts about gray hair:
Scalpture-team: Gray hair is definitely a strong ongoing trend right now and a lot of fashion forward women wear this color. Personally I count all shades from super white to a darker silver-tone to be in the gray section. These are colors that look like hair without any pigment left that most of us usually get when we’re getting older. It sure is a strange trend, normally we panic when our hair turns gray and we try to cover it up as fast as we can.
ST: I think we(kinda young women) like to color our hair gray because it looks supernatural, artificial and because we can wear any color without looking old, still it looks artificial in a natural way. Gray also looks cold, ice-y so it gives you an ice-princess-look. Also women with gray hair stand out in the same way as blonds but without the associations “dumb blonde” — Just thinking out loud here. Gray looks powerful, smart and edgy. It’s also seen a lot in fashion shows and editorials, here I think it represents an alternative, natural Victorian going baroque style that looks cool and gracefully blasé.
ST: It most surely is a trend! There are so many influencing this trend right now; Kate Moss with her gray streaks, The models at Gareth Pugh’s S/S show and most recently the women on Acne Papers cover..
One of the earliest persons making me think that white/silver was going to be a trend was Agynes Deyn with her white hair, she was probably a big influence.
ST: Hmm, I think about Karin Dreijer Andersson from Fever Ray. She has long white hair and looks like an Scandinavian ancient witch-doctor with supernatural powers. So again it makes me think about someone cold and strong but still tied to nature. Supernatural and saga-esque, an updated beautiful villainess. Also of course the ghostly looking powdery looks like Ranya Mordanova wears in last Dazed&Confused.
ST: It depends on how dark your hair is from the beginning, if you want to do it at a flashy salon or at home. If you have dark(er) hair my advice is to go to a salon, otherwise you can do it easily at home. Bleach and use a blue or pink-ish toner afterwards. Try a couple of streaks if you’re not sure about going all in!
